When the baby hands you lemons …

Darling daughter threw me a curveball at 4.45pm today – she fell asleep! This 20 minute nap spelled bad news for a productive evening – she is not an easy child to settle at the best of times, so we knew this late nap would mean a late evening for her mum and dad.

So, despairing at the thought of an evening spent trying fruitlessly to convince her to sleep, I suggested to DH that we use the evening to get our Sunday job done – that being go to a mall (urghh) so that I can get a haircut at a quick cuts place while he takes darling daughter for a walk and buys my Christmas present.

This turned out to be something of an inspired idea. One of the major malls near us started Christmas trading hours tonight, and was just about empty! I got straight into the hairdressers, DH got my gift and got it wrapped, and we were out of there less than 20 minutes later.

I feel so much better for having my haircut, and for now knowing that Sunday will be ‘chore-free’.

Now, if only DD would go to bed!
